ABOUT US
Tucked away in the hills of East Tennessee. In the heart of The Model City. And only 30 minutes away from world famous Bristol Motor Speedway, sits us. Kingsport Speedway! Opened in 1965 after local businessmen saw the success of Bristol Motor Speedway. The track went through several transformations; from dirt, to asphalt, back to dirt, then in 1996, concrete. Where the track would truly become short track legend. And become the Concrete Jungle as it's known today!
Kingsport Speedway is one of the most unique, and challenging circuits in Short Track racing. It is one of the ONLY concrete surfaces in Weekly Racing. It's long straightaways, and its wide sweeping and tight radius corners pushes drivers to the absolute limit. Kingsport has drawn comparisons to Bristol, Martinsville and North Wikesboro, or some combination of those tracks. If you can win at Kingsport, you can win anywhere in the Country!

With the unique challenge the Concrete Jungle presents. It also has brought out and created some of racing's highest talent! During the track's asphalt era and its concrete era. Kingsport Speedway has been NASCAR Sanctioned in the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series (NAAPWS). Even hosting Winston Cup races in the 1970s. The ONLY NASCAR Sanctioned Weekly Track in the state of Tennessee!!!!
Some of the sport's legends like Richard Petty, Jack Ingram, and Joey Logano have all challenged the track! Kingsport has also either been the birthplace or monumental in creating Top-Level talent in the sport. Such as:
Brad Teague (Xfinity and Cup Series),
Layne Riggs (Current Truck Series Star),
Chad Finchum (Xfinity and Cup Series),
Kres VanDyke and Lee Pulliam (now team owners in the ZMax CARS Tour)
You also can't forget the track's iconic hometown heroes. Who may even still race at the track today! Names like Zeke Shell, Roger Clendenin, Gene Glover, Lee Tissot, Keith Helton, Kenny Absher, Roger Neece. And so, so many more! Kingsport Speedway serves as underrated and secret gateway to becoming a superstar at any level of stock car racing!
Not only is Kingsport Speedway an iconic track for the on track product or the names. You couldn't ask for a better backdrop for a track, or a better region economically!
Kingsport Speedway sits in the beautiful landscape of East TN. Constructed into a hillside, facing a picturesque western sky view of the Appalachian Mountains and so, so many gorgeous sunsets throughout the season and throughout all of the years
Kingsport is also part of what is known as the Tri Cities region of East Tennessee; encompassing Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol, as well as the smaller surrounding towns and suburbs. As mentioned before, the track is only a half hour away from one of NASCAR's most iconic tracks, Bristol Motor Speedway. Meaning Kingsport and the greater Tri Cities region are very supportive and passionate about auto racing in the area. A very lucky thing to have this day in age. But it also positions Kingsport Speedway near other incredible attractions. Such As ETSU Athletics, The Kingsport Axemen, Historic Abingdon Va. and Barter Theatre. As well as all of the nature, park, and recreational destinations your heart desires.
If you've never been to the concrete jungle, or if you're a regular visitor. Go enjoy all of the great things our area has to offer. But stay locked in with us, because on Friday Nights from March to September; the Concrete Jungle is THE place to be!!!
